Back in 2011 when Man Bites Dog Records was working on Vast Aire's OX 2010 LP, the Harlem emcee introduced us to fellow Manhattanite and frequent collaborator Double A.B. A veteran of the New York Underground with two albums under his belt at the time, A.B. sent us over a nearly-completed project — prospectively titled Media Shower — that he was working on with producer Dub Sonata. A few spins and a couple conversations later, their project had a home at Man Bites Dog and on September 18th, 2012, we proudly released the 15-track album. With memorable features from some of Hip Hop's greatest like Roc Marciano, Evidence, Sean Price, Scram Jones, Cannibal Ox and Rhymefest, one listen today confirms the project has stood the test of time.
Over a decade since its initial release on CD, we decided it was time to immortalize the album on wax for our listeners to enjoy. In celebration of the vinyl reissue, A.B. &. Dub assembled Alternate Media — an 8-track EP of remixes and previously unreleased alt versions from the album. It includes remixes by Bronze Nazareth, Blockhead, Kount Fif, Maitre D and Opto, all which appear as bonus songs on Side-D of the special edition 2xLP. Each purchase of Media Shower comes with the 8-track digital download of Alternate Media, which also features new material from Nejma Nefertiti, Rhymefest and Evening Elevator — totaling 23 tracks of Double A.B. & Dub Sonata.
